Welcome to the Golden City of Prague—the enchanting “City of 100 Spires,” where medieval charm, a towering castle complex, and winding cobblestone streets create a truly magical setting. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for a two-night pre-cruise stay. Spend your time discovering iconic landmarks such as Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, and the famous Prague Astronomical Clock, or simply relax and enjoy the city’s lively cafés and historic squares. With its fairytale architecture and vibrant culture, Prague is the perfect gateway to your Danube journey.

Day 3, Monday, July 19, 2027    Prague           (B)

A guided walking tour introduces you to the highlights of Prague, including the historic Prague Castle grounds in Hradčany, where you’ll see the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, as well as the Astronomical Clock in Old Town. Take time to mingle with locals in Wenceslas Square, enjoy the energy of street performers, or admire the arches and statues that line the iconic Charles Bridge. Consider sampling delicious plum dumplings and traditional Pilsner lager.

Classic Excursion – Take a Guided City Walk to visit Hradčany Castle Grounds; see St. Vitus Cathedral and Old Town’s Astronomical Clock.

Day 4, Tuesday, July 20, 2027     Regensburg, Germany – Embarkation                       (B,D)

After breakfast, travel to Regensburg, one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities, for a guided walking tour through its historic streets. Discover landmarks such as the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) and the ancient Porta Praetoria, one of the oldest surviving Roman structures in Germany. You can still see its massive stone arch and original Roman masonry incorporated into later buildings. It was originally built in 179 AD as the entrance to the Roman fortress Castra Regina.

Enjoy free time to explore at your own pace—perhaps savor a hearty lunch and a local beer while soaking in the charm of this vibrant city.

Continue on to Vilshofen, where you’ll board your Avalon Suite Ship®, the Avalon Illumination. Settle in and enjoy a warm welcome reception before your journey begins with an evening cruise to Passau.

Classic Excursion – Join a Guided City Walk in Regensburg and see Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) and Porta Pretoria—built in 179 AD as the entrance to Castra Regina fortress.

Day 5, Wednesday, July 21, 2027          Passau-Schlogen Oxbow             (B,L,D)

Discover the charm of Passau, the “City of Three Rivers,” where pastel-colored buildings, cobblestone streets, and stunning baroque architecture create a picture-perfect setting. Highlights include the magnificent St. Stephen’s Cathedral—home to one of the world’s largest cathedral organs—and scenic views where the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers meet. Enjoy some free time to wander the town’s narrow streets and browse the galleries of Artists’ Alley, or perhaps step inside the cathedral to catch a rehearsal.

This afternoon, relax onboard as you cruise toward Linz, passing through the Danube’s breathtaking horseshoe bend known as the Schlögen Oxbow. Later, enjoy live onboard entertainment before docking overnight in Linz.

Day 6, Thursday, July 22, 2027               Linz, Austria            (B,L,D)

Linz, Austria’s vibrant Danube city, blends rich history with bold modern creativity. Its charming Old Town, grand Baroque architecture, and riverside squares reflect centuries of tradition, while contemporary attractions like the Ars Electronica Center and Lentos Art Museum showcase its innovative spirit. Whether strolling along the Danube promenade, exploring cultural landmarks, or savoring Austrian pastries in cozy cafés, visitors will find Linz to be a lively and welcoming city where classic charm meets forward-thinking energy. Consider a full-day Guided Optional Excursion to Salzburg—the city of Mozart, or to the picturesque Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov.
You may otherwise spend the afternoon on a biking picnic along the banks of the Danube or hike through Linz’s beautiful nature trails to Pöstlingberg for a bird’s-eye view of the city and river below.

Day 7, Friday, July 23, 2027        YBBS, Wachau Valley, Durnstein       (B,L,D)

Today begins with a visit to the charming riverside town of Ybbs an der Donau, where the Ybbs River meets the Danube. From here, relax onboard as you sail into the breathtaking Wachau Valley—a UNESCO-listed landscape of terraced vineyards, medieval villages, and castle-topped hills.

Arrive in the storybook town of Dürnstein, famous known for its iconic blue church tower and the nearby castle ruins where Richard the Lionheart was once held captive. Enjoy time to explore before continuing your scenic cruise through the Wachau Valley, taking in picturesque villages and rolling vineyards from the Sky Deck as you make your way toward Vienna.

This evening, unwind with live entertainment onboard your ship.

YBBS Discovery Excursion – Join a guided visit to two family-owned farms and discover how they produce delicious traditional specialties and products, OR:

Day 8, Saturday, July 24, 2027               Vienna, Austria         (B,L,D)

Vienna, Austria’s elegant capital, is a city where imperial grandeur, world-class music, and café-culture charm come together. Set along the Danube and filled with stunning Baroque and neoclassical architecture, Vienna dazzles with landmarks like Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the grand boulevards of the Ringstrasse. Visitors can enjoy the legacy of Mozart and Strauss, savor rich pastries in historic coffeehouses, and immerse themselves in a refined yet vibrant cultural scene.

Spend free time strolling along Kärntner Straße, the city’s most famous shopping avenue, or explore Vienna by bike before relaxing in a local café with a slice of Sachertorte or Apfelstrudel. You may also choose an optional guided excursion to Schönbrunn Palace—the former summer residence of the Habsburg monarchy—for an inside look at imperial life.

This evening, you may choose to attend an unforgettable musical performance with an optional Royal Waltz Concert in an elegant Viennese hall.

Bratislava, the charming capital of Slovakia, blends medieval character, riverside beauty, and a relaxed Central European vibe. Nestled along the Danube and framed by low rolling hills, the city brings together a picturesque Old Town, a striking hilltop castle, and a mix of Gothic, Baroque, and modern architecture. Visitors can wander narrow cobblestone streets, admire landmarks like Bratislava Castle and St. Martin’s Cathedral, and enjoy cozy cafés and hearty Slovak cuisine.

Budapest, Hungary’s captivating capital—often called the “Queen of the Danube”—straddles the river with a dramatic skyline of Gothic spires, grand bridges, and historic castles. Blending the rolling hills of Buda with the vibrant energy of Pest, the city invites you to explore its lively streets and iconic landmarks, including Heroes’ Square, Fisherman’s Bastion, and the stunning Hungarian Parliament Building along the riverfront.

This afternoon, choose from a wide range of optional guided excursions or enjoy free time to explore at your own pace. Stroll across the famous Chain Bridge, take in sweeping views from Castle Hill, browse the vibrant Central Market Hall, or relax in one of the city’s beautiful cafés.
