ITINERARY
Day 1 – Sunday, October 1, 2023
An early morning departure has us arriving in Myrtle Beach in time for a delicious dinner. This evening you will enjoy an included dinner at Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen and experience family-style dining born from the classic recipes of the Queen of Southern Cuisine herself. Afterwards, we check-in at the Coral Beach Resort for a two-night stay.
Hotel: Coral Beach Resort (2-nights) – Named ‘Best Family Resort by Travel Channel’, this beautiful, ocean-front resort was designed for comfort and fun. During your stay here, you will enjoy an ocean front, 1-Bed Room Suite accommodation with a balcony that overlooks the resort, beach, and ocean. Soak up the sun on the expansive pool deck or float away in the lazy river. After the sun sets, you may choose to enjoy an evening of bowling at the bowling alley right on site or relax with a cocktail on the expansive beach-side patio.
Day 2 – Monday, October 2, 2023
After a full breakfast at the Sea Level Restaurant at the hotel, enjoy a free day to do as you please. You may choose to visit Myrtle Beach’s newest attraction – Broadway at the Beach (transportation provided) or sunbathe on the beach, relax and enjoy the pools and amenities at the hotel, or explore the streets and shops of Myrtle Beach.
Later this afternoon, you’ll have a All-U-Can-Eat Gourmet Seafood Buffet at the Giant Crab Restaurant, with over 150 items, including snow crab legs, ham, steamed and fried oysters, salmon, prime rib, and grilled swordfish, just to name a few.
If you only see one show at Myrtle Beach, this is the one! The Carolina Opry Show has been thrilling Myrtle Beach visitors for nearly 30 years. Tonight you’ll experience the award-winning show that blends two hours of high energy music, comedy, and dance!
Day 3 – Tuesday, October 3, 2021
After a full breakfast at the Coral Beach Resort, we check-out and depart for Charleston, South Carolina. By mid-morning we’re clopping along on a horse-drawn carriage tour viewing downtown, historic Charleston. Experience 20-30 blocks of Charleston viewing homes, gardens, mansions, churches & parks; learn about the history, architecture, flora, and the people that make up the “Holy City.”
Enjoy free time and lunch on your own at Old City Market before departing on a Sightseeing Cruise of Charleston Harbor with a stop at Fort Sumter. Once aboard, you will experience a relaxing 30 minute narrated cruise, and when you arrive at Fort Sumter, you’ll be greeted by a National Park Service Ranger who will provide further details about the fort and its pivotal role in the Civil War.
Enjoy a free evening to explore historic Charleston and have dinner on your own.
Hotel: Francis Marion Hotel – Charleston (1-night) – Named for Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion (the “Swamp Fox”), the Francis Marion Hotel became an instant Charleston landmark when it opened in 1924. Rising 12 stories above the Historic District, the hotel offers spectacular views of Charleston’s church steeples, historic mansions, and famous harbor, and easy access to many of Charleston’s attractions. You’ll love the historic charm of this hotel along with such on-site amenities as The Spa of Charleston, the Swamp fox Restaurant and Bar, and Starbucks.
Day 4 – Wednesday, October 4, 2023
After an included breakfast at the hotel, depart for Boone Hall Plantation, America’s most photographed plantation, and enjoy a tractor-pulled wagon tour of the grounds. Learn how the Boone family and descendants of Major Boone were influential in the history of south Carolina, the colonies and the nation during the notable Gullah Story-teller Presentation. The moss-draped Avenue of Oaks is a spectacular approach to this antebellum era plantation home. See a number of slave cabins and cottages that were occupied by sharecroppers well into the 20th century. Enjoy exploring the plantation and visiting the filming location of many popular movies – among them were The Notebook and North and South.
Afterwards, depart for Beaufort, South Carolina, and have an included lunch at Panini’s on the Waterfront. After lunch, you will enjoy a 1 hour Carriage Tour of Beaufort and learn all about the history the town. Re-live the past through the narration of Antebellum and Victorian architecture as well as Hollywood movie sites. In 1991, Nick Nolte and Barbra Streisand took up residence in Beaufort for five months to film “The Prince of Tides.” To welcome the stars, doors were flung open and red carpets rolled out all over the little town.
Later this afternoon, depart for Savannah, Georgia and enjoy an included dinner at the famed “Pirate’s House,” located in one of the most historic spots in Georgia, located just seven blocks from where General Oglethorpe landed with his colonists in 1733. It was first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers, and fast became a meeting point for pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas. Since then, The Pirates House has been entertaining visitors with a bounty of delicious food, drink, and rousing good times!
Hotel: Springhill Suites Historic District, Savannah (1-night) – This all-suite hotel is located in the hub of Savannah’s downtown Historic District and walking distance to several restaurants, nightlife, and entertainment. This hotel features a rooftop pool and trendy restaurant.
Day 5 – Thursday, October 5, 2023
After an included breakfast at the hotel, depart for an informative 2-hour driving tour of historic Savannah including a stop at Byrd Cookie Company. The morning tour of the Landmark Historic district is chock full of beautiful homes, and the finest urban forest in the country with 25 parks in one square mile. Visitors will enter St. John the Baptist Cathedral as well as one of the famous squares lush with green foliage and numerous park benches.
Enjoy free time for browsing and exploring the famous River Street and afterwards, depart for a lunch cruise aboard the Savannah Riverboat. You’ll experience what Southern hospitality is all about during the your delicious southern style buffet, all while cruising along the Savannah River listening to the Captain’s intriguing tales and historic facts.
Afterwards, depart Savannah for our overnight hotel en route home with meal and rest stops along the way.
